Another specialty of the island is rabbit. Mamma Tina cooks a prized rabbit, cooked with aromatic herbs, garlic, tomatoes and olive oil. The traditional local menu is bucatini with rabbit sauce, followed by the white meat of the rabbit as a second course.
Visit to the food markets
Immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting the food markets with WeCook to shop together, selecting the freshest vegetables, fruit, seafood, herbs and spices, organically produced and caught by the inhabitants of Ischia and Naples. On the island of Ischia, in fact, we grow aubergines, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, courgettes, mushrooms, lemons, berries and more.
In Italy and especially on the Island of Ischia, it is more sensible, more economical and more practical to make use of ingredients according to the seasons they thrive in. It is for this reason that Italian markets are world renowned for their beautiful, organic fresh-produce. The markets in the town of Forio offer mostly home-grown produce of fruit and vegetables, and seafood of the freshest catch, including octopus, anchovies, clams and various fishes.
